A marriage ceremony is a special point in time in a couple’s lives, when they say I do and commit to their future jointly. It’s a chance for all of the family and friends to come together to assist all of them and celebrate their fresh lives.

Traditionally, a Laos wedding ceremony is split up into two parts: the service and the international dating for chinese reception. The formal procedure takes place at the bride’s house, when close relatives and friends get together, while the reception where more friends are invited is held in a hotel, a restaurant or perhaps hall that could maintain more persons.

When needed of the marriage, the bride and groom obtain dressed up in traditional Lao clothes – a Sink (Lao skirt) for the bride and a silk Salong for the groom. There is also their hair connected in a beautiful approach with fantastic adornments.

The wedding ceremony day morning hours starts with a ritual called Haih Khun Maak which means “parade from the groom’s home towards the bride’s house”. That is a special event and an extremely festive event. The parade starts at the groom’s home and ends around the bride’s home, with performing and breaking a leg along the way.

After the feast day, a ritual called Sou Khuane is conducted. This is a spirit-enhancing feast day that both the groom and bride perform. They will light up a dagger and candles, addressing the spouse and children spirits of both loved ones. They then fasten a white colored string which symbolizes both the families’ state of mind becoming one.
